Privacy Policy for ClogBook

ClogBook is an unofficial, fan-made companion app for Old School RuneScape. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Jagex Ltd. in any way. This policy covers the ClogBook iOS app only.

Summary

ClogBook is built to need as little of your data as possible. There is no account, no login, and no developer-run server — the app talks directly to a small number of public APIs and to Apple’s own services. We (the developer) never see your data.

Data You Enter

Goals, checklists, quest/diary progress, collection log status, skill planner notes, and reminders are entered by you and stored on your device. If you’re signed into iCloud, this data syncs across your devices via Apple’s CloudKit — a private, per-user database that Apple provides and that the developer cannot access, read, or export.

Data Sent to Third-Party Services

ClogBook reads from public, read-only APIs to show you game data. No account credentials or personal data are sent to these services — only what’s needed to answer the lookup:

• Official OSRS Hiscores (operated by Jagex Ltd.) — when you look up a character, the username you enter is sent to Jagex’s public Hiscores endpoint to retrieve skill levels, XP, and boss kill counts. This is the same public data anyone can view on Jagex’s own hiscores website.
• OSRS Wiki Real-time Prices API (community-run, not operated by Jagex) — used for Grand Exchange item prices and price history. Requests include a generic app identifier in the User-Agent header, as required by the Wiki’s API terms.

Neither service receives your name, email, device identifiers, or any data beyond the username or item you searched for. ClogBook never reads game memory, injects input, or automates anything in-game — it only reads public data you ask it to look up.

Purchases

Subscriptions (Pro) and one-time purchases (Remove Ads) are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. ClogBook never receives your payment information — no card numbers, billing address, or Apple ID password. The app only learns whether a purchase is active, so it can unlock the corresponding feature.

Advertising

Free-tier users (without Pro or Remove Ads) may see banner ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve and measure ads, governed by Google’s own privacy policy. On first launch, iOS will ask for App Tracking Transparency permission — if you decline, you’ll still see ads, but they won’t be personalized based on your activity in other apps.

What We Don’t Do

• No account creation or login
• No analytics SDK beyond the AdMob ad framework above
• No selling or sharing of your data with anyone
• No access to your CloudKit data, purchase history, or ad identifiers on our end — we simply don’t run a server that could store any of it

Your Choices

• Ads: Purchase “Remove Ads” or subscribe to Pro to remove ads entirely. Adjust ad tracking permission anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
• iCloud sync: Turn off iCloud for ClogBook in iOS Settings → [your name] → iCloud if you’d rather keep data local-only to one device.
• Deleting your data: Delete goals, checklist items, watchlist entries, or saved characters directly in the app, or delete the app entirely to remove all local and synced data.

Children’s Privacy

ClogBook is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a new effective date.
